First and foremost chess should be fun! This is the ethos of Ojays, the Oxfordshire Junior Squad Chess Club. We currently meet weekly in person, during term time, to develop young chess players in preparation for county tournaments and individual competitions.

Oxon Junior Championships Results 2024

The Oxon Junior Chess Championships and County Trials were held at Cumnor Primary School on the weekend of 6/7 Jan 2024. There were over 100 entries across the four sections: U9, U11, U13, U15/18. The tournament had a very positive feel to it, lots of enthusiasm from participants and organisers alike. The Oxfordshire Junior Chess Championships took place at Cumnor Primary School on the weekend of 4 th -5 th Jan 2025. There were over 100 entries across the four sections: U9, U11, U13, U15/18. The tournament had a very positive feel to it, lots of enthusiasm from participants and organisers alike. Those children who did well in the U9 and U11 sections will have the opportunity to represent Oxfordshire in the forthcoming EPSCA zonal qualifiers and national finals. Oxfordshire Junior Championships Results

The Oxon Junior Chess Trials and Championships were held at Cumnor Primary School on the weekend of 8/9 Jan 2023. There were over 100 entries across the four sections: U9, U11, U13, U15/18. The tournament had a very positive feel to it, lots of enthusiasm from participants and organisers alike. Congratulations to the 2023 champions: U9: Aden K U11: Aden K (again) U13: Elon K U15: Yichen H (also 1st place overall) U18: Ewan B U18 Girls: Tashika A (also 2nd place overall) There will also be chess clock prizes for the top performing schools (to be announced soon). Those children who did well in the U9 and U11 sections will have the opportunity to represent Oxfordshire in the forthcoming EPSCA qualifiers and finals.
