First and foremost chess should be fun! This is the ethos of Ojays, the Oxfordshire Junior Squad Chess Club. We meet weekly on Thursdays between 6.15pm and 8pm, either in person or online, to develop young chess players in preparation for county tournaments and individual competitions.

Oxfordshire Girls Chess Championships at Blenheim Palace 19-20 October 2019

Entries for the ECF Girls Chess Championships, incorporating the Oxfordshire Girls Chess Championships, are being received daily.
With only one week to go it is time for the invitations for the Saturday evening simul to be sent out.
Most of the invitations will be sent out this weekend from those already registered, especially those in the main Championship.
At least half of the 20 places will be for Oxfordshire girls.

The first three Oxfordshire invitations have been earnt today by the winning team at the Oxfordshire Girls (School) Team Championship played at St Joseph’s School. Congratulations to the winning team from Headington Prep which included two Ojays players. If other Ojays girls would like to be considered for one of the remaining places, they should enter online by Sunday 13 October. Note that there are age-limited Rapid Play Minor tournaments over one day for those who do not feel confident in playing in the strong two-day Championship or are only able to attend on one of the days.
