First and foremost chess should be fun! This is the ethos of Ojays, the Oxfordshire Junior Squad Chess Club. We typically meet weekly during term time, either in person or online, to develop young chess players in preparation for county tournaments and individual competitions.

Oxon Junior Championships Results 2024

The Oxon Junior Chess Championships and County Trials were held at Cumnor Primary School on the weekend of 6/7 Jan 2024. There were over 100 entries across the four sections: U9, U11, U13, U15/18. The tournament had a very positive feel to it, lots of enthusiasm from participants and organisers alike. Congratulations to our 2024 Oxfordshire Junior Champions: U9: 1 st Emmanuelle L, 2 nd A, 3 rd Edmond D U11: 1 st Aden K, 2 nd Gavin W, 3 nd Noah B U13: 1 st Jan M, 2 nd Yue Yue S, 3 nd Albert H U15: Reya L (also overall U15/U18 section winner) U18: M Chiu Hsin * & Julius F C U18 Girls: Shambavi H * & Taisiia K * glass trophy winners (on tie-break) Those children who did well in the U9 and U11 sections will have the opportunity to represent Oxfordshire in the forthcoming EPSCA qualifiers and finals. Oxfordshire Junior Championships & County Trials - January 2024

Calling All Oxon Junior Chess Players! The annual County Junior Championship tournament takes place on the weekend of 6 th & 7 th January 2024 at Cumnor Primary School . Under 9s - Saturday 6 th Under 11s - Sunday 7 th Under 13s, 15s & 18s run throughout 6 th & 7 th Players who perform well will be invited to join the county junior teams to compete in the 2024 EPSCA regional qualifiers and national finals! Oxfordshire Junior Championships Results

The Oxon Junior Chess Trials and Championships were held at Cumnor Primary School on the weekend of 8/9 Jan 2023. There were over 100 entries across the four sections: U9, U11, U13, U15/18. The tournament had a very positive feel to it, lots of enthusiasm from participants and organisers alike. Congratulations to the 2023 champions: U9: Aden K U11: Aden K (again) U13: Elon K U15: Yichen H (also 1st place overall) U18: Ewan B U18 Girls: Tashika A (also 2nd place overall) There will also be chess clock prizes for the top performing schools (to be announced soon). Those children who did well in the U9 and U11 sections will have the opportunity to represent Oxfordshire in the forthcoming EPSCA qualifiers and finals.
