Cumnor Primary School once again played host to the Oxfordshire Junior Chess Championships over the weekend of 3rd-4th Jan 2026. This year's event saw a fantastic turnout, with more than 100 young players competing across the U9, U11, U13, and combined U15/18 sections. There was a wonderful atmosphere throughout the venue, fueled by the incredible energy and sportsmanship of the juniors and the dedicated support of our volunteers.
Success in the U9 and U11 categories serves as a pathway for county selection; high-performing players in these groups will be invited to represent Oxfordshire in the upcoming EPSCA regional qualifiers and national final stages.
