First and foremost chess should be fun! This is the ethos of Ojays, the Oxfordshire Junior Squad Chess Club. We currently meet weekly in person, during term time, to develop young chess players in preparation for county tournaments and individual competitions.

Represent Oxfordshire in the U18 Jamboree!

We are looking for junior players to join a 12-player Oxfordshire team to compete in the upcoming Team Jamboree on Saturday 14th February 2026 at Cox Green Community Centre, Maidenhead.

  • Format: Two rounds of ECF-rated Standard Play games
  • Time Control: 50 minutes + 10 second increments
  • Eligibility: All U18s with ECF Junior Gold membership
  • Cost: Free to participate!

Players will be matched in rating order against opponents from teams including Reading, Watford, Maidenhead, and Uxbridge. We need a wide range of playing strengths — from those new to long time controls to strong tournament players — to ensure balanced games on all boards.
